Meet the Team - Claudia Epskamp

Today we are celebrating another intern joining the team. Claudia has joined for a 10 week placement, reviewing our commercialisation strategy.

I’ll leave her to introduce herself in her own words:

"From an early age, my fascination with science, driven by its potential to enact meaningful change, has evolved into a passion for science commercialisation. My academic journey, culminating in a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Science, uniquely equips me at the intersection of scientific knowledge and business acumen.

Building on my foundational studies, I further refined my skills with a Postgraduate Diploma in Bioscience Enterprise, where my detail-oriented and analytical thinking focused on the bioscience industry's entrepreneurial and commercial dimensions. My expertise spans navigating the complexities of science ventures, marketing, financial management, and legal compliance—a skill set I am eager to apply during my time at HazEL.

I envision myself as a catalyst for shaping the future of science ventures. With strong communication and leadership skills, I aspire to introduce innovative solutions that revolutionise the field and positively impact the world.

Beyond academics, my creativity and adaptability have thrived in digital marketing, where I have contributed significantly to various projects. As a venture analyst, I gained valuable insights into the transformative power of commercialisation, further enhancing my strategic perspective. Deeply rooted in community engagement, I volunteer at organisations like Habitats for Humanity and City Mission. My proactive and compassionate nature, recognised by The University of Auckland through the Distinguished Graduate Award, underscores my commitment to making a positive impact. I aim to leverage my diverse skill set to drive positive change, push the boundaries of innovation, and leave a lasting effect on critical branches of science.

Outside the realm of science, I am a nature-lover who enjoys the outdoors, particularly the beach, I also enjoy football, cooking, dancing, and spending time with friends and family. This multifaceted persona adds depth to my character, highlighting my ability to balance professional dedication with personal passions."
