Meliora-ESG partnership: Press Release

Press Release – HazEL establishes UK presence and announces partnership with Meliora-ESG Ltd.

The beginning of 2024 heralds exciting times for Hazard Evaluation (HazEL). We have registered a subsidiary company, Hazard Evaluation_UK in the United Kingdom, to service the environmental and agriculture sectors and fully develop the opportunities we see there.

To support this expansion, we have partnered with Meliora-ESG. James Alexander, Director of Meliora-ESG Ltd, is focused on emerging risk evaluation and product innovation. Alexander has over 25 years of corporate experience in Waste / Agriculture / Energy / Forestry / Habitat / Real Estate / Logistics and Nature, so he is perfectly aligned with the HazEL team values.

James was the 2021 - Insurance Business Magazine award winner - 5* Top Global Environmental Risk and Broking Expert.

He has experience in the UK, LATAM, ASIAPAC and EMEA and is a Lloyds Member.

He was formerly the International Environment Risk lead at WTW and Lockton Companies LLP, and has global experience in the production, programme design and placement of environmental risk management processes and insurance for environmental liability.

His focus areas include assisting clients in understanding the extent and nature of environmental risks, the coverage available and the placement of policies. Alexander also has world-leading experience in insuring de-watering activities, waste storage facilities and environmental liabilities faced by companies as they transition to a low-carbon future. Alexander started his career in 1989 with Shanks and McEwan, where he specialised in waste management engineering. He began underwriting in 1996 in London, before broking with WTW. From 2003 to 2014, he owned and operated an arboricultural contracting business focused on biodiversity protection and restoration, while producing biomass fuel for green power generation. He previously headed the International EIL practice of WTW, overseeing a period of rapid growth in premium volume and bespoke wording drafting. He believes that his duty is to consistently stay ahead of incoming challenges [to help clients] prepare, meet their risk management goals and protect their organisation even during uncertain times”.

Alexander says being able to represent the HazEL SaaS Product is incredibly exciting. We are really looking forward to working with Kate Bromfield and the HazEL team”.
